I've reached out multiple times to this shop trying to get into contact with them, and their phones go straight to voicemail. On 7/21/2024, I went in for an oil change which I waited fairly long for.
The oil change was done, and I saw someone running up behind my car to tell me he hadn't put my skid plate back on all the way, so I had to pull back in again and let him put it on. That was the first red flag. The next day, I'm driving to work and I hear a loud rumbling noise under my car. I thought to myself it could only be one thing, and when I took it back the next day, a technician confirmed it wasn't put back on properly.
Fast forward to 8/23/2024, I'm on the highway and the whole thing completely flies off from underneath the car and caused damage to where I had to get it towed.
I have not had anybody look at my car or work on it since then. And now, my car is damaged due to the carelessness, and I still have yet to get in contact with someone about the damages at the Cicero location in Chicago, Illinois.
Preferred solution: Damages paid on my car

Verified Reviewer | Loveland, ColoradoMy blown engine
Seven weeks ago, I used your services to get my oil changed. I was having car issues and had to have my vehicle towed to the nearest dealership for inspection.
They said that my engine is fried due to a faulty seal on the oil filter and that this is the cause of my engine failure. I've reached out to the local branch where I received service. They are blaming Kia, stating that this is a known issue with these engines, and Kia is blaming Take5. All I know is I have a car that I can't drive and that I can't afford to fix due to the repairs costing more than 6000 dollars.
I would like to speak to somebody to see if I can get any assistance. As I said, the dealership service states that this happened due to a faulty seal on the oil filter.
- Fast and friendly
- Attitude when dealing with the issues that were presented did not want to help resolve or find a solution
Preferred solution: Money to replace the engine in my car.
User's recommendation: If you use their service, do a quick check when you reach your residence just to make sure everything looks correct

Verified ReviewerOil overfill damaging valve cover and main rear gasket. Poor response.
I am going to request help through Legal Shield on Monday if I get no response from claims by then.
My oil was overfilled by 3 quarts at Take 5 shop on 7/10/24. It is now 8/7/24, I still have a car rental, my car has had nothing done but a diagnostic and I can not get through to my claim manager, nor do employees offer to take a message.
Enterprise Car Rental wants payment, Meineke where my car sits wants storage fees, I have not heard from the claims dept. for another week now.
I have called, written, rated and joined Legal shield (in case I will need them). How else can I push this claim along and get my car repaired, returned and these bills taken care of?
(My photos are not loading below, sorry)
I did get a diagnostic showing damage to the valve covers and the main rear gasket due to a 3 quart overfill.
- You can stay in your car
- No way to contact the shop directly
- Extremely poor communication
- No customer service
Preferred solution: My car repaired and rechecked. The bills paid that are accruing and refund for the oil change.
User's recommendation: Don’t take your car to Take 5, unless you get out of your car and supervise the oil change yourself.
Damaged under hood
took my car for oil changed & they damaged the metal part by trying to force the top cover over it! they bent the whole metal and they told me it was kinda loose.
they had to force it back in so they can screw the top cover over it. I had them take video after forcing the metal back in & it has scraped off and bent!!! mind u i have came in 2x cos they took my valve caps off and forgot to put one back on!
had to purchase another set . had fluid leaking & they said its from the AC so i will go check with "REAL PROFESSIONALS" cos I tipped them each just for a damn damage they did .
User's recommendation: save ur money & go elsewhere!!!

Verified Reviewer | Dallas, TexasService issues
I took my car to get an oil change and the very next morning my check engine light comes on and there is a sound coming from the car that was never there before. Called to report issue n left voice messages, no one returns my call or answers.
Sound gets louder and my engine Knicks less than 3 days after the oil change. The van had to be towed to a reputable auto dealer mechanic who did a thorough service report that detailed there was no oil in the tank and that was the direct reason the engine knocked. He even took a picture of the oil that was present in the oil tank when it was checked, it was barely 100mls!
What is even worse is that I had been taking my vehicles to this company for the past 7 years for oil change and they would not even take my calls to report this service issue!!!
Talk about mistreating a loyal customer!!!
Take 5 has tried to deny the issue, and tries to blame the manufacturer of the van that it was a faulty engine but my van had NEVER had any engine trouble in the past 7 yrs prior to Take 5's faulty oil change 4 days ago! There were no check engine lights on or dashboard lights on prior to that oil change on April 14th.
They are refusing to accept responsibility for their faulty service and what is worse is the manager at the local branch has not returned calls to do anything about this and he wants to even tamper with the vehicle now to tamper with the evidence the automechanic at the dealership found in the van!
This is beyond ridiculous!
On reviewing social media on this Take 5 company, they have had multiple issues causing customers vehicles to knock after a supposed oil change from them!and them not accepting responsibility.
The business should be closed down and a class action suit brought against them.
IBEWARE of this company.
NEVER CHANGE YOUR OIL THERE. THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!!
User's recommendation: NEVER CHANGE YOUR OIL THERE!!!!
A serious issue after oil change and called to have it resolved but was hung up on.
I had an oil change at 5pm on 8/6/24. I drove to work next morn, had a delivery 3 miles away, before I could get back to store, engine light started blinking on , my car had hardly any pressure.
When I got back to store there was a large oil spot where I was parked earlier. I called the store and while I was explaining the issue I was hung up

At branch 5616, if I remember correctly, it's in Katy, Texas. I have never been treated so poorly in my life.
They made fun of me because I asked for the lift driver discount. Even when I was leaving, they continued to make fun of me. The racism and disrespect made me feel terrible. The person responsible was a thin boy who has a mark on his forehead, apparently from some injury he sustained earlier in his life.
He treated me with a great deal of bullying. Here is the address: 25615 Katy Fwy, Katy, TX.
- Speed and good treatment
- Are hiring people like this boy who treated me badly
Preferred solution: I would like respect from this employee who is racist and despotic and treats me very badly.

Verified Reviewer | Marietta, GeorgiaTake5 forgot the oil cap & caused me over $1,300 in expenses due to their negligence & lies. Reimbursement is requested.
Worst company ever. Negligent.
Incompetent. Nonexistent Customer Service.
On April 27, 2024 the tech (Dakahri) forgot to replace the oil cap after a top-off, and that caused me to be stranded with an oil-splattered, fire-hazard engine, incurring over $1,300 in expenses. Both managers (Chris & Caleb) at the Johnson Ferry, Marietta, GA location lied to me about being reimbursed for expenses I incurred due to Take5's negligence. Dakahri yelled at me, argued with me and hung up on me.
They pawned me off to their claims department (Fleet Response), who, after lying about my claim, blaming me and gaslighting me, offered a mere $16.95 to replace the oil cap.
They completely ignored my concerns and the other expenses I incurred due to Take5's negligence & lies. Imagine if this happened to your sister, daughter or wife.
I had to rent a vehicle ($800) while my engine was being inspected & cleaned ($314). Take5 has refused to reimburse me for any of that. They did nothing about my oil-splattered driveway caused by their negligence.
I have called and emailed customer service probably 15-20 times, but no one calls back.
It has been nearly months now. Take5 at on Johnson Ferry Rd, Marietta, GA did not bother to reply to my complaint through the BBB.
Can you imagine if, due to Take5's negligence, your mom, sister, or wife drove a vehicle with an oil-splattered, fire-hazard engine, was stranded, sent a sketchy tow truck by Fleet Response and promised by Take5 that all related expenses would be reimbursed and then was treated this way?
Why aren't you blowing up my inbox or knocking on my door trying to make this right? What if this was your sister, mom or wife? I have read your other reviews and it is clear there is a systemic issue with your negligent behavior, putting customers' lives in danger, ruining their vehicles, causing thousands of dollars in damages and completely evading responsibility.
What is wrong with you? Isn't there anyone at Take5 who gives a damn about your customers, the damage, danger & expense you are causing?
Or is the company run by a bunch of sociopaths?
You can look up my claim to Fleet (No)Response 140**** and send me a check to reimburse me for expenses your negligence & lies caused me to incur, offer to have my driveway cleaned and offer a free oil change with manager's inspection. Make this right.
Meanwhile I will be filing a complaint with the Georgia State Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Protection and telling everyone I know not to touch Take5 Oil Change or Take5 Carwash with a ten foot pole.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don't touch this company with a 10 foot pole.

Take 5 Oil Change 4145 53rd Ave E Bradenton, Fl 34207
On 4/17/2024 I got my oil changed at Take 5, which I had frequently did for 2 years on my 2022 Hyundai Kona. On this particular oil change, the technician forgot to remove the plug to the oil filter, resulting in my engine ceasing up because it wasn't able to get oil to the engine.
My car broke down in the middle of the road 28 days later and when I took it to the shop they told me that I needed an engine replacement and it was due to improper oil change. I filed a dispute with Take 5 and now I'm sitting on day 22 without any communication on what will be done for my car.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Make sure the Technician knows how to work on your car

Verified Reviewer | Tampa, FloridaI have a complaint
I had my oil changed on 12/07/2023. Xavier accidentally didn't put my Brake fluid reservoir cap back on.
Now I've had to buy a new cap. Now there's 4% moisture in my brake fluid.
It's going to cost me $109 to do a brake fluid exchange. I believe you should have two checking each others work.
User's recommendation: Use Jiffy Lube.
